Allow your passions and curiosity to guide you - Macia Outlaw

"Hey everybody, my name is Macia Outlaw and I’m a junior at Mississippi College. My major is Biology with a minor in Spanish.

Before I began my ninth grade year, a family member of mine had twin boys and that initially sparked my interest in obstetrics and gynecology. For the next four years that I was in high school, I shadowed nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, and medical doctors to confirm that I truly had a passion in obstetrics and gynecology. My senior year I met my mentor, Dr. Sheila D Bouldin, who is an obstetrician gynecologist at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

When I began my college education, I started at Hinds Community College because my parents couldn’t afford a four-year university. I transferred after a year with a Phi Theta Kappa scholarship and because of my experiences I was selected to be a national transfer student ambassador.

I began my business OBGreat and I was selected to be in the Mississippi World Physician scholarship program, which grants me a seat reserved in the school of medicine and a scholarship of $120,000."
