How A Passion Can Save A Life - Hussain Alokaily

"Hi, my name is Hussain Alokaily. I am a nineteen-year old aspiring filmmaker.

My story really starts when I was kid. I was kind of lost, my grades were low, I couldn’t make lasting friendships, and there was a really, really dark period where I didn’t know where I was going with my life.

Then around the middle of high school, I discovered my love and passion for filmmaking and telling stories. I was able to relate to a lot of films and I really want to begin telling my own stories in my life and what I had to say. Then around the time I applied to the university, I finally got the opportunity to make a short film, a minute and a half long for Rider University. I submitted it, although I didn’t get into the university.

In the end, I didn’t just prove to myself I could make a movie, I proved to a lot of people around myself who finally acknowledge that “This guy might actually be able to make movies”.

Now, I am studying film at Sheridan College. I am happier than EVER before. I love my life, I love what I do and now I am ready to tackle the next challenges of my life!"
